Notice of Restriction – Heat alert in Hungary
UPDATE on 7 August 2026
We are pleased to inform you that the previously introduced freight train capacity restrictions have been lifted.
Effective from 7 August 2026, the traffic restrictions previously applied on the networks of MÁV Infrastructure Co. Ltd and Győr–Sopron–Ebenfurti Vasút Zrt. between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. are no longer in force.
Rail traffic may now continue according to the normal operating schedule.
We would like to thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation during this period.
——————————
We would like to inform you that, based on a decision by the Defense Task Force, starting Monday (August 3, 2026), during the Level III heat alert, freight train service will not be available on the MÁV Infrastructure Co. Ltd and on the Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurti Vasút Zrt. network between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily. The only exceptions to this rule are trains that are essential to the national economy and that provide basic services.
Trains currently in operation will be halted at the first station where this is feasible from an operational standpoint. During the period mentioned above, freight trains affected by the suspension will be gradually resumed by traffic control after 10:00 p.m., depending on traffic conditions.
